This project is located along the exquisite Arabian gulf coastline of Dubai, occupying a beachfront plot of land. Studio DS’s aim for the villa was to incorporate traditional Islamic architectural principles within a unique contemporary form.
As with all Studio DS projects, a detailed schedule of accommodation was used to create a series of adjacency diagrams for discussion with the client. Each of these options created distinct forms that provided the necessary balance between public and private accommodation.
The region’s environmental factors greatly influenced Studio DS’s proposed layout for the Beach Villa, minimising solar exposure and gain whilst maximising shading and easterly cooling winds.
Views out over the Arabian gulf were maximised whilst the thoughtful use of mashrabiya maintained privacy to the occupants.
A restrained palette of materials allows the Beach Villa to sit harmoniously within its surrounding beach environs.
